Expansion of Zurich Stadelhofen railway station

Zurich Stadelhofen station is a central hub in the Zurich S-Bahn network. In order to improve the performance and reliability of the Zurich S-Bahn, the station urgently needs to be expanded. Basler & Hofmann has the overall management mandate for section 3, which includes all tunnel structures.

Numerous construction measures are required to eliminate the bottleneck at Stadelhofen station. The overall project includes a new, fourth track in the station itself as well as the second Riesbach tunnel in the direction of Tiefenbrunnen. A second Hirschengraben tunnel in the direction of Zürich HB and a second Zürichberg tunnel in the direction of Zürich Stettbach are also required to connect to the existing railway stations. The line between the portal of the second Riesbach tunnel and Tiefenbrunnen station will be upgraded to double track.

Basler & Hofmann is leading the engineering consortium for section 3, which includes the new construction of the Riesbach, Zürichberg and Hirschengraben tunnels with all connecting structures to the existing tunnels.
