Building in existing buildings

Building in existing structures and preserving existing structures is highly relevant in terms of climate protection and inner-city development. Historic buildings should also be preserved as part of the building culture. We advise public and private clients who want to convert, extend or renovate existing buildings. With innovative structural concepts, we make optimum use of the design scope of existing buildings.

Building in existing buildings as an opportunity

At first glance, building new often seems easier and cheaper. Building in existing buildings is often associated with conflicting objectives, but offers great opportunities in terms of both aesthetics and sustainability. With the courage to be unconventional and creative, we develop solutions that meet current usage-specific needs, comply with normative requirements and preserve our architectural heritage. We are committed to the sustainable use of building materials and energy. Thanks to the interdisciplinary cooperation within the company, we can easily call in specialists in tangential fields such as fire engineering or earthquake-resistant design if required. We have experience with the requirements of monument preservation and construction during operation. We pass on our knowledge and experience in the CAS ReMain (Repair and Maintenance) course at ETH Zurich. We are also a member of the SIA specialist group for the preservation of buildings.
