Surveying for the Bad Zurzach eastern bypass

The Bad Zurzach eastern bypass relieves the historic town center of through traffic and creates better conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and buses. Basler & Hofmann supported the project as overall project manager. In this context, we were also responsible for the extensive surveying work.

The Bad Zurzach eastern bypass routes transit traffic east of the town on a two-lane road around 990 meters long. A central element is the 527-metre cut-and-cover tunnel, which is located in the creeping slope. If you drive out of the north portal of the tunnel, you come to the Glocke junction with the connection to Zürcherstrasse. Due to the location of the route, the junction had to be lowered. In addition to the adjustments to various service pipes and the new construction of various retaining walls, this also made it necessary to replace the existing SBB bridge. The surveying work included the creation of a geodetic network, the development of a digital terrain model, tunnel surveying and comprehensive monitoring during the entire construction process, including the replacement of the existing SBB bridge.
