Basler & Hofmann had already configured RBS's first GIS many years ago and carried out the initial recording of all railroad systems, from the tracks to the overhead lines, safety systems and engineering structures. The team was therefore predestined to upgrade the complex system to the latest technology and migrate all data to the new environment. The GIS now runs with LIDS7. The migration was constructed using the FME interface software and was accompanied by comprehensive quality management, which guaranteed that all data was correctly transferred to the new system. The data is available to RBS via a web GIS and a desktop GIS.
