New BLS workshop Oberburg: environmental planning and EIA
In order to ensure the Safety and Security of its rolling stock, BLS is converting and expanding its existing workshop at the Oberburg site in the canton of Bern. Basler & Hofmann has been commissioned with the consultant services in various disciplines. For the environmental impact report, we have demonstrated our ability to obtain approval in over 15 thematic areas.

BLS carries out services on every train once a week. The project aims to close an impending service gap from 2027. The project includes the deconstruction of the existing workshop and track system, the construction of the new workshop hall with seven tracks and other ancillary buildings and facilities. We carried out all the necessary environmental assessments, including noise, soil, pollutants, ecology and forest, defined the necessary measures and prepared the environmental impact report as the basis for planning approval.
