N03/76 Repair Murg - Walenstadt

The Murg-Walenstadt motorway section is located in the topographically challenging area on the edge of Lake Walen. The section cuts through the southern flank of the valley and has five tunnels, three large viaducts and numerous engineering structures such as overpasses and underpasses, 20 retaining walls of various constructions, protective structures and noise protection structures. The repairs were carried out at night so that full capacity was available for daytime traffic.

The line was opened in 1987 and has not been extensively renovated since then. As part of the renewal, the route, signaling and all engineering structures were renewed. The tunnels were adapted to current safety standards. The entire structure of the bridges was comprehensively repaired, including the replacement of abutments.
