Coop production and distribution center, Schafisheim: transportation concept

Coop built a new production and distribution center in Schafisheim - a project of superlatives: the site is home to Switzerland's largest bakery, the logistics center supplies Switzerland with 1800 truck trips per day and 1900 people work on site. We integrated the logistics and deliveries into the overall concept of the district development and provided traffic planning support for the project.

The new Coop logistics center in Schafisheim combines three central functions: The largest bakery or confectionery in Switzerland, the national distribution center for frozen goods and the regional Coop distribution center for the Zurich area, northwestern Switzerland and central Switzerland. Basler & Hofmann supported the largest private construction site in Switzerland at the time with more than 70 specialists from various disciplines. The extension comprised two building complexes for 1,900 employees, truck delivery ramps on two levels and a rail link. The transportation concept included the internal traffic infrastructure as well as the adaptation of the higher-level road connection.
