Zurich Airport: New "Golf" stands

As passenger numbers at Zurich Airport increase, so does the demand for handling stands, particularly for European traffic. Ten new Code C stands were created in the south of the airport to optimize operational processes. At the same time, new parking and service areas were created for hangar operations and parking spaces.

In order to meet the growing demands of European traffic, ten new handling stands for category C aircraft were built in the south of Zurich Airport and went into operation at the end of 2018. These stands, known as "Golf", offer eight hectares of space. The Echo taxiways were extended to the south for this purpose.

The construction measures also included extensive contingency measures or compensating measures: Existing aircraft stands, parking and service areas as well as parking spaces had to be relocated. Two replacement sites were created for the existing southern snow dump. In addition, a new retention filter basin was built to treat rainwater.
