Photovoltaics carport for the technical operations in Wil
Technischen Betriebe Wil has erected a solar carport on its parking lot and the canopy of the delivery area. The system supplies around 38,000 kilowatt hours of green electricity per year and also offers protection from the sun and snow.

We planned the PV systems with bifacial PV modules, as these are particularly efficient as they can generate electricity on both sides. The project was put into operation at the end of January 2022. The system delivers an annual energy yield of around 38,000 kilowatt hours, which is enough to fully heat the office building of Technische Betriebe Wil or to drive an electric car for around 250,000 kilometers. In addition to the production of local green electricity, the solar carport offers further advantages: It uses a previously unused area to generate electricity, provides shade in summer and protects the cars from snow in winter. This leads to an upgrading of the parking spaces and added value in terms of rental.
