Overall drainage concept (GEK) for the Forchbahn

Basler & Hofmann developed an overall drainage concept for the Forchbahn, which serves as a working aid and basis for the planned construction measures on the route from Zurich Rehalp to Esslingen.

The Forch Railway runs from Zurich's Stadelhofen station to Esslingen and has been in operation since 1912. After a surge in investment between 1959 and the 1970s, major maintenance and preservation measures will be necessary again in the near future. In accordance with the guideline "Drainage of railroad facilities" and the VSA guideline "Wastewater management in rainy weather", which has been in force since April 2019, the existing discharges of rainwater into the watercourses must be investigated when making structural adjustments. An overall drainage concept (GEK) was therefore drawn up for the Zurich Rehalp to Esslingen line based on the Canton of Zurich's guideline and practical guide on stormwater management. It will serve as a working aid for planners when developing measures for future drainage projects.
