Interlaken Ost - Brienz maintenance project: superstructure management

The Interlaken Ost - Brienz section of the national highway, which is subject to heavy seasonal traffic, is to be extensively renovated. The maintenance project includes the repair of three tunnels and the open section over a total length of 13.8 kilometers. Basler & Hofmann is supporting the client, ASTA, as the external senior site manager.

The Interlaken-Ost - Brienz section of the A8 was put into operation in 1988 and is now undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment. As part of the work, the three tunnels Giessbach, Sengg and Chüebalm as well as the open section with all engineering structures will be renewed. The construction work should affect traffic as little as possible, which is why the tunnel sections will be closed in the evening and reopened to traffic in the morning, which requires close coordination with the construction work on the BSA operation and security equipment. Basler & Hofmann is responsible for the external superstructure management for the implementation and commissioning phases and coordinates the cooperation with the numerous parties involved.
