Integral flood protection Rübibach and Melbach
In the settlement area of St. Jakob in Ennetmoos and in the settlement area of Sand in Kerns, the two streams Melbach and Rübibach endanger the settlement area during floods. The flood protection project includes integrally coordinated measures to eliminate weak points and protection deficits and to repair existing protective structures.

The integral flood protection project for the Melbach and Rübibach streams is intended to remedy the flood protection deficits in the settlement areas of St. Jakob in Ennetmoos and Sand in Kerns. The project includes both repair measures to secure existing protective structures and investment measures to improve flood safety. The measures include the upgrading and new construction of three bed-load collectors, channel development, the construction of a flood protection dam along the cantonal road, the relocation and revitalization of the lower course of the Melbach and the opening up of the Bruderhausbach. In addition, three new bridges will be built and the drainage of the Chilenmattli district will be redesigned.
