Civil Engineering Office of the Canton of Bern: Study on PV on Infrastructure
The Civil Engineering Office of the Canton of Bern commissioned a study on the site development of photovoltaics potential on infrastructure facilities. We examined the suitability of noise barriers, bridges and other structures to support the Energy Strategy 2050.

The aim of the study was to determine which existing road infrastructures in the Canton of Bern have technically feasible PV potential and to find out how great the technical and economic potential is depending on the feed-in tariffs. The sites examined included noise barriers, retaining walls, bridges, tunnel portals, highway service areas and traffic circles. We developed business cases for the ten most economically attractive locations.
