Canton of Graubünden: Introduction of an electronic building permit procedure

As part of its eGovernment strategy, the canton of Graubünden is introducing a digital system for the efficient processing of building permit procedures. Basler & Hofmann was responsible for the overall project management of the design, implementation and introduction of the new system.

The canton's aim is to simplify and speed up the approval process for all parties involved. Thanks to the new platform, applications can be checked digitally and centrally in terms of material and form, and the public submission process can be initiated. A guided submission process increases the quality of the application documents. If necessary, the municipalities can invite other official bodies to comment or issue an additional permit with just a few clicks of the mouse. The offices involved can work on the application in parallel, which significantly shortens the process. The coordinated construction decision is ultimately visible to all parties involved. One particular challenge was the high level of municipal autonomy in the canton. Following a pilot phase, the new system is to be gradually introduced in the Grisons municipalities.

Basler & Hofmann accompanied the project from the process analysis to the introduction as overall project management.
