The 957 meter long Alvaschein tunnel is located on the A29 Julier Pass road between Thusis and Silvaplana. The condition assessment as part of the main inspection revealed a clear need for action. Damage to the vault and the embankments must be repaired and tunnel safety increased. To this end, new escape routes are to be created. During project planning, special attention should be paid to the alpine character of the project perimeter and the limited space available in the portal areas. In the neighboring sections of the route, the associated engineering structures are to be repaired.
Basler & Hofmann is in charge of the overall management of the engineering consortium and is the consultant responsible for the tunnel repair.
