Marco Ramoni, who studied Civil Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, has advised clients in large-scale projects in cavern and tunnel construction around the world. He joined Basler & Hofmann in 2011 after a period of teaching, research and consulting in underground engineering at ETH Zurich, where he had also received his doctorate in driving operations with tunnel boring machines in squeezing ground. As senior engineer, he manages several challenging projects, such as the current RBS railway station expansion in Bern and the «Expansion step 2035» in Zurich Stadelhofen, which is part of the Swiss strategic development programme for railway infrastructure. Marco Ramoni has been head of Rail Tunnels since 2015. He also continues to teach underground engineering at ETH Zurich and ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences and to produce numerous publications.
