Affoltern Collection Center: BIM management and coordination

The Swiss National Museum's ultra-modern collection center, inaugurated in 2007, is to be supplemented with an extension building of equal stature. Basler & Hofmann is responsible for BIM management and BIM coordination in the BBL's BIM pilot project.

The Swiss National Museum's collection center in Affoltern Albis houses the art and cultural assets that are not on display in the current exhibitions. The center - a striking building that was inaugurated in 2007 - is now to be expanded.

For the client, the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics FOBL, the extension is a BIM pilot project. Basler & Hofmann is taking on the BIM management and BIM coordination of the challenging structure on behalf of the BBL from the concept design phase onwards and is providing the Common Data Environment platform used by the team. These mandates at the interface between the client and the planning team ensure that suitable BIM objectives and BIM use cases are defined for the project and implemented in accordance with the specifications.
