Photovoltaics (PV) has reached market maturity. Today, it is used in various ways as part of the building envelope. According to "Energy Perspectives 2050+", electricity generation using PV systems is set to rise sharply by 2050. These will therefore increasingly become defining elements of building culture. The design integration must be carefully planned accordingly. The operational safety of the systems must also be guaranteed, and the new SIA 2062 leaflet on photovoltaics on and around buildings has been available to building owners, planners, installers and authorities as a comprehensive guide since the beginning of 2023. The information sheet applies exclusively to installations on buildings and focuses on the following topics: Energy yield and cost-effectiveness, properties of different module types, architectural and structural integration options, technical system elements, project process and responsibilities, operator models as well as ecology, service life and deconstruction.
