Lea Bressan and supporting structure for the GLC building at ETH Zurich win the Building Award

Basler & Hofmann is delighted to have won two awards at the Building Awards 2023. Project engineer Lea Bressan received the Young Professional Award for her contribution to the new construction of a factory building for the electricity company in Zurich. The structural engineering team was delighted to receive an award for the unique slope stabilization structure of the new GLC building at ETH Zurich.

The Building Awards were presented at a glittering gala at the KKL Lucerne on June 15, 2023. 650 guests honored the award-winning work.

Young Professional Award for Lea Bressan

The top-class international jury praised the young project engineer Lea Bressan from Basler & Hofmann's structural engineering team for her decisive contribution to the successful realization of ewz's new central warehouse in Zurich Herdern. Huge prefabricated girder and wall elements were used for the column-free design. The construction took place in the tightest of spaces. The jury emphasized Lea Bressan's technical excellence and outstanding communication skills. She is an example of how good communication and a clear exchange with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders contribute to the success of a project.

Award for a unique supporting structure

In the infrastructure construction category, Basler & Hofmann received the award for the slope stabilization structure for the GLC building at ETH Zurich. The supporting structure without permanent anchors made it possible to construct the new research and laboratory building in a 20-meter deep slope cut and is exemplary for the successful combination of architectural aesthetics and engineering intelligence.

The Building Award was presented for the fifth time this year. The award recognizes and highlights outstanding services in civil engineering.
