Traffic infrastructure: ZHAW campus in Winterthur

As part of the location strategy of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the School of Engineering (SoE) is being concentrated on the Technikumstrasse site. The renewal of the campus includes two new laboratory buildings and a public park in the first stages. Basler & Hofmann is responsible for the traffic infrastructure.

The master plan envisages four stages for the complete implementation of the location strategy. In the first stage, two new laboratory buildings and the campus park will be realized. This also includes the renaturation of the Eulach, which flows southwest of the site. For the renewal of the site, the existing drainage and utility systems (service water, district heating, electricity and telecommunications) must be adapted. Two municipal sewers with a diameter of 800 mm and the egg sewer (800/1200 mm) are to be relocated over a length of around 100 meters. To supply the neighboring cantonal school, district heating pipelines as well as electrical and telecommunications systems must be relocated and routed under the Eulach. Coordination of all trades with the planners of the general planning team, with the plant owners and with the responsible offices at the city and canton are also part of the mandate.
