In order to increase operational stability, Südostbahn SOB has renovated Einsiedeln station and extended the double-track exit. As part of the work, the switch nest in the station entrance was simplified, the track superstructure and substructure in the station area were completely renewed and a new house platform with platform roof was built.
Around 730 meters of new track were laid for the extended exit and a 150-meter-long retaining wall was built. Over a length of 1.94 kilometers, the superstructure and substructure including 9 points were renewed and one point was moved. The track drainage system was largely rebuilt.
The conversion and renewal work was largely carried out during the day while the railroad was in operation and during a three-week total closure.
