Site development of the ewz Herdern site

Ewz is planning to create a second main site for the Grids division at the Herdern site in Zurich. This includes the repair and expansion of the main building and the construction of a new central warehouse. In addition to its mandate as overall planner for the structural system, Basler & Hofmann is also responsible for the service pipes from project planning to commissioning.

The electricity utility of the city of Zurich (ewz) is building another main site on the Herdern site in Zurich. In future, around 600 workplaces, which are currently spread across various locations, will be brought together. Basler & Hofmann is planning all the utility connection systems such as service water, waste water, rainwater infiltration, district heating, electricity and telecommunications. We also support the general planner's site supervision in technical matters.

In order for the rainwater to seep away on site, the impermeable surface layers had to be replaced. Existing and new development systems had to be coordinated. Coordination with a network of stakeholders is always a particular challenge: the development systems have to be coordinated with all consultants in the general planning team as well as with the plant owners and authorities, and the transfer of know-how has to be ensured throughout the entire staggered implementation.
