Evaluation of forest-wildlife monitoring for both Basel

The Basel Office for Forests and Wildlife would like to optimize its monitoring of the impact of wildlife on forests. We analyzed the current state of research and best practices for the office and developed options for action.

As part of the project, existing monitoring systems from various cantons were examined and compared with our own surveys. In order to obtain a comprehensive picture, exploratory interviews were conducted with five cantons and other selected experts. Current research findings were also incorporated into the analysis. Based on the results, we developed concrete options for action and proposals that should contribute to the further development of the current Basel system. The final project report documents the findings and provides a sound basis for future measures.
