Ernst Schweizer: Industrial acoustics for production plants
The company operates extensive production facilities for steel processing in Hedingen. The emissions from these facilities led to noise pollution for the company's employees. Our assignment included extensive noise measurements in the production halls in order to define the noise pollution, develop measures to reduce it and protect the well-being of the employees. The extremely high noise levels of some milling machines, which were able to spread unhindered due to the large expanse of the hall, posed a particular challenge.
Following precise noise measurements, we created an acoustic simulation to evaluate various shielding measures. The solutions developed were agreed with Suva and included special shielding and insulating materials that were installed specifically around noisy machines. The implementation of the measures led to a significant reduction in noise pollution in the production halls.
