Bürgenstock Hotel Resort: Structures and site development
The world-famous hotel complex extends over a length of more than one kilometer and comprises over 30 buildings. We were responsible for the structural engineering in solid, steel and timber construction as well as the design and project planning of the excavations and foundations for various buildings. Due to the challenging terrain, steep slopes up to 15 meters high had to be planned in some cases. We also tested the suitability of construction methods using existing materials, for example the production of concrete for retaining structures using material from the excavated rock.
For the site development of the newly built, car-free Bürgenstock Resort, we constructed a new service road in challenging terrain. All supply lines for the buildings are routed in the Roads. We designed a promenade for the pedestrian connection between the hotels. The rainwater from the hotels, the paved areas and part of the promenade will be drained via an underground infiltration system. The newly built sewer network is connected to the municipal sewer system via three wastewater retention basins.
