Acoustics for Wincasa's open-plan office in Basel

Wincasa has built a new open-plan office with a customer desk in the immediate vicinity of Messe Basel. The aim was to create pleasant acoustics for employees and customers and to meet the requirements of employment law. The high ceiling heights and the high density of people posed particular challenges.

We carried out a comprehensive analysis of the acoustics on site and created detailed simulations to evaluate different scenarios and material options. Based on these results, we developed a concept: special acoustic ceilings were installed to minimize sound reflections and optimise the reverberation time. Absorber walls were installed at strategically important positions in the room to reduce disruptive noises and improve speech intelligibility. The use of cleverly positioned furniture helped to control sound propagation while meeting aesthetic requirements. Once the measures had been implemented, extensive acoustics measurements confirmed the effectiveness of our solutions.
